#10: FRANK BOOTH
Character: Frank Booth
Actor: Dennis Hopper
Movie: Blue Velvet
Frank Booth is a very outspoken, charismatic psychopath. His dialogue is often dotted with long bouts of profanity. As with all classic nutcases, empathy is the main ingredient lacking from his soul and his immediate concern at any given time encapsulates only that which revolves around his own desires. In a small town - Lumberton, North Carolina, to be exact – he’s the local crime lord pimp, with an especially brutal interest in murder and sadomasochistic sexual activity. He expels numerous quotes and one-liners during the film that are most-definitely deranged and more-often-than-not hilarious.
Guns are his main weapon of choice throughout the movie. You’ll also see him quite curiously toting around a gas canister which is assumingly filled with some type of drug that he inhales. He also has a piece of blue velvet on him at all times. Whenever Frank is about to participate in violence, he makes sure to take a few puffs of his gas tank and stroke his blue velvet. Frank Booth’s character is a truly believable inception of creepiness, embodying what the essence of seedy, small-town debauchery can be.

#9 RICHARD "THE ICEMAN" KUKLINSKI
Character: Richard "The Iceman" Kuklinski
Actor: Michael Shannon
Movie: The Iceman
Richard “The Iceman” Kuklinski is unique among characters on our list because he exists both in real life and on the silver screen. Also quite unique is the fact that many of his gruesome tales of murder come straight from the horse’s mouth. Before a major Hollywood film was ever produced, Kuklinski’s story was on HBO where he starred in a real-life candid documentary filmed in the Q-and-A format called “The Iceman Interviews.”
Following the success of HBO’s project and amidst the growing interest in this gritty tale of a New Jersey mob hitman – “The Iceman” soon hit box offices. The Iceman is a very intelligent, introspective sociopath whom leads the dictionary-definition of a double-life. On one hand, he is a loving husband and a good father but on the other hand he takes a break from wrapping presents on Christmas Eve to run out and blow someone’s head off. Most notable is his ability to eloquently recant tales of brutality with a cold precision and humorous rigidity.

#8 DR. HANNIBAL LECTER
haracter: Dr. Hannibal Lecter
Actor: Anthony Hopkins
Movie: Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal
Hannibal is the best example of an all-time classic combination – consisting of half psychopath and half world-class gentleman. He debuted in Silence of The Lambs as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, in which he played more of a supporting role and he then later starred as the main character in Hannibal. He is the type of individual to lobotomize a victim while sipping Chianti from a Swavorski-crystal infused wine glass – ‘nuff said!

#7 THE JOKER
Character: The Joker
Actor: Heath Ledger
Movie: The Dark Knight
The Joker- played by Heath Ledger – is the antagonist in The Dark Knight. The performance is a shoe-in for any kind of list like this and I’m sure you’re not surprised to see his name here but there is no way around it. Introduced as an off-kilter; quite odd individual whom doesn’t make much sense - audiences quickly learn as the film progresses that The Joker is a very calculated, capable intellectual whom is also crazy and simply thrives amidst disarray while acting as an agent of chaos. It’s hard to imagine anyone being able to play this role ever again while doing it the same justice.

#6 PATRICK BATEMAN
Character: Patrick Bateman
Actor: Christian Bale
Movie: American Psycho
Patrick Bateman is an egotistical, self-loathing WallStreet banker whom hates his life and comes up with an axe-wielding alter-ego to spice things up. His hobbies include picking up hookers (eventually murdering them,) inviting co-workers over to his apartment (to eventually murder) and walking up on homeless people in alleyways (then murdering them.) A more classic kind of savage, Patrick Bateman prefers getting up-close-and-personal with sharp objects and creating murder scenes with lots of blood. Christian Bale pulls of a masterful performance and gives us a glimpse into a true American Psycho.

#5 ALEX DELARGE
Character: Alex Delarge
Actor: Malcolm MacDowell
Movie: A Clockwork Orange
Alex is the leader of a group of teenage miscreants called “droogies” whom roam the streets in a post-apocalyptic England, where they get high on some kind of narcotic-laced milk at the local “milk bar” and then head out seeking “ultra-violence” which is their favorite trouble to get into once they are high. Alex thinks very highly of himself, has a penchant for classical music and clearly lacks any empathy for those around him whom he hurts (even his parents.) Eventually his crew gets tired of being abused by their leader so they betray him and lead him into a very big series of transformations, but not before a ton of assault, murder and rape take place at the hands of these out of control kids. Played by Malcolm MacDowell, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better actor to play the villain role.

#4 CALIGULA
Character: Caligula
Actor: Malcolm MacDowell
Movie: Caligula
The psychopathic Caligula is played masterfully by – you guessed it - Malcolm McDowell, an actor who is now on this list for the second time due to his remarkable acting chops. Caligula is a young prince in Rome whom murders his uncle Augustus to become the emperor. Once in power, he takes the already-wild, bohemian culture of brutality and debauchery to new heights. His complete disregard for decency, absence of empathy and brutal nature is rivaled by no other psycho on this list. Caligula has no remorse for anyone or anything - murdering multiple family members, as well as raping and murdering countless others across Rome.

#3 CAPTAIN SPALDING
Character: Captain Spalding
Actor: Sid Haig
Movie: Devil's Rejects
Captain Spalding is the most amusing lunatic on our list. A filthy, shameless circus clown whom owns a roadside attraction in a backwoods Texas town – Spalding surely kills and tortures alongside his band of misfits more than he ever makes people laugh. With an abundance of one-liners and sharp comedic undertones layered into almost every scene featuring him, The Devil’s Rejects is an awesome movie with a cast of great psycho’s, Spalding – played by Sid Haig - is just the most memorable.

#2 ANTON CHIGURH
Character: Anton Chigurh
Actor: Javier Bardem
Movie: No Country For Old Men
As quiet and mysterious as he is, I didn’t even remember what Anton Chigurh’s full-name was when I went to write this article until I was actually forced to ask Google. However, place this to the side because his character is anything besides forgettable. Anton is a nutcase terrorizing yet another dusty Texan landscape and he uses the words he does say in conjunction with very violent acts to quite easily convince viewers that he is a crazed killer worthy of our list. Also interesting to note is that he shares a very similar accessory to that which Frank Booth totes, however instead of huffing out of the gas canister; Anton actually uses it as a killing tool since it fires some kind of traceless projectile.

#1 UDAY HUSSEIN
Character: Uday Hussein
Actor: Domonic Cooper
Movie: Devil's Double
The second character on our list whom is an actual human being and a movie character – Uday Hussein is the antagonist in Devil’s Double. Uday is the epitome of a psychopath, sociopath, murderer, rapist, pedophile and overall lunatic. Being the son of Saddam Hussein, he is afforded the ability to run amok all over Iraq getting whatever he wants and doing whatever he wants – which spirals out of control quickly when you’re insane, it turns out. When Uday decides he needs a body double for protection like his father has, he picks up an old school-mate and forces him to become his body double under the threat of death to him and his family. We then see how unhealthy a situation can become when an over-privileged sociopath becomes so bored that he constantly tries to top his brutal and disgusting acts, seen through the eyes of his forced body double whom follows him around everywhere. Some of the acts of violence include a young girl being thrown in the trash after she is kidnapped, sexually assaulted and overdoses on drugs she is fed – and this is NOT the craziest stuff that goes down during this awesome film.
