Scary Horror Movies On Netflix This Halloween – Our Top Picks
We know those whom don’t like public/social gathering on Halloween, usually enjoying a cozy couch with which to sit and binge-watch a few of the top horror movies. If you’re one of the many who will choose to live vicariously through Netflix this Halloween in order to get their “scary” fix – we’ve compiled our top picks for the best scary Halloween flicks you can find on the ‘Netty
Now, please don’t be mad because Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Evil Dead don’t dominate every one of our top spots. We felt those lists had been done a million times, so we chose ours with a little more psychology and a little less gore, as the “scare” factors.
If you think we missed something crucial, or you want o give the community your input, jump into the comments to let your opinion be heard.
And now, with no further a-BOO, we present the top horror movies on Netflix this All Hallows Eve:
Hellraiser
This is certainly our most aesthetically frightful selection. What is more likely to ice your bone marrow than an albino-white demon with giant nails protruding from his entire cranium? When you add in scenes such as the Pandora's box unleashing a barrage of hooks and chains which painfully devour the antagonist (before he became a demon,) just the look on his face Is enough to ruin your sleep for weeks.
Jaws
What, sharks can’t reduce you to a whimpering scared-e-cat or something? I’d cuddle with IT before I’d get in a tank with a great white shark. This is the kind of scary movie that is subtle but effective, slowly building up anticipation for the moment something might surface – it’s truly terrifying if you focus wholly on the film and get into the character’s mindset.
The Shining
Martin Scorcese has this one on his list of the 11 scariest horror movies of ALL TIME – if that tells you anything. What a truly turbulent, psychologically-taxing plot! The twists and turns are largely taken place within what would normally be described as a giant, elegant hotel. However, there’s an odd vibe we can only attempt describing as a “stunning and angelic facade quickly melting in your mouth, then aggressively sending trembles through your hands as you taste the torrid sauté of madness.”
The Sixth Sense
Touted for its all-star cast and outstanding financial returns, who doesn’t
remember a time when you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing “I see dead
people” or having it parodied on SNL along with every other pop culture related
show or publication. It wasn’t that any
one aspect of the movie was frightening but I think the fact that you see it
through the eyes of a scared, confused young boy and lower your barrier for
terror, it becomes much scarier.
..That should keep all of you Netflix-binging, non-trick-or-treating horror fans occupied! We know it’s a controversial topic and we’d love to hear your feedback with your sentiments on the topic.
