We've all heard about the day that is supposed to be unlucky for everyone, but do you know why?  Or how about all the different things you shouldn't be doing on those days?  To help you out, here's everything you need to know about days like today.

1. Fear of the Name

So many people have a legitimate fear of the day, that it has actually been given a scientific name: Friggatriskaidekaphobia.  Airlines and other businesses reportedly suffer huge losses on these days.

Some people go as far as refusing to work on Friday the 13th, so all I'm saying is we should all go home right now.

2. A Date to Remember

Depending on where you are in the world, Friday the 13th might mean nothing!  Italians throw out the superstition behind the number 13 all together, making their unlucky day, Friday the 17th.  And in many Spanish speaking countries and Greece, Tuesday the 13th is the one to fear.

3. The Thirteen Club

Back in 1881, 13 men formed the Thirteen Club to improve the number's reputation.  At the first meeting, they set up ladders in front of the door, which they had to walk under to get into the room and covered themselves in spilled salt. (They obviously had a little too much time on their hands)

The club lasted for years gathering more than 400 members, including five US presidents, but they obviously didn't succeed in stopping the fear of the number.

4. Avoid At All Costs

• Don't schedule yourself a hair appointment on this day!  If you cut your hair on Friday the 13th, someone in your family is said to die.
• But if you allow a funeral procession to pass you, it'll be you that dies next.
• Good news, you no longer have to be afraid of breaking a mirror.  Apparently, you only get 7 years of bad luck if it happens on Friday the 13th.  You can manage that, right?
• A ship that sets sail on a Friday is destined to have bad luck...just like any other trips for that matter.

5. Born Under A Bad Sign

If you were born on a Friday the 13th, you will be unlucky for life (sorry).  And if you're like me and have 13 letters in your name, you will be blessed with the devil's luck.
