What's Your Favorite Holiday Movie?

What's Your Favorite Holiday Movie?

Now that Thanksgiving is over and December has come, everyone can agree it's time to start watching holiday movies, right?  I may have already started weeks ago (don't judge me) so it's your turn to catch up.  The question is though, which movie is the best?  Which makes you feel the most Christmas-y or reminds you of that one Christmas when you were x years old?  Do you want to watch a romance or a comedy?  Or maybe a kids movie?

Rotten Tomatoes lists the top 5 as It's A Wonderful LifeMiracle on 34th StreetHoliday InnThe Shop Around the Corner, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (animated).  Considering I've only ever seen one of these five, I would have to disagree.  I feel like maybe that list has to be updated because they're all pretty old.

The only Christmas movie that I watch every year, without fail, is the How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey.  It's funny and stands up pretty well considering it's 17 years old!  And the number of lines I can recite word for word is probably a problem.  If done well, it's the one Christmas movie I can think of that I would really want a sequel or remake of.  I know there's an animated remake coming out next year, but I'm talking bringing back Jim Carrey, making it live action, and updating the story a little bit (like making the ending better).  It could be great, trust me.

Then, of course there are the other classic favorites like Love, ActuallyElf, and Home Alone.  These are a little more for an adult audience and are equally Christmas-y.  Could I watch them every year though?  Probably not, but that might just be me.  Buddy the Elf quotes are all over the place throughout December -- not to mention every other month of the year.

The HolidayFour Christmases, and Fred Claus get honorable mentions because there a little different from your typical Christmas movie.  A little romance, some comedy, aaaand of course snow.

With so many movies to choose from, these are barely scratching the surface of what's worth a watch.  What movies do you watch every December?  And have you gone to see the new Christmas movies out this year; A Bad Mom's Christmas and Daddy's Home 2?  Let me know in the comments.
